What is 斗內? 抖內 meaning, the English word, how the amount works, and platform cuts (2026)
Donairo7 min readGeneral information only — this is not legal or tax advice. The figures below come mainly from each provider's own official pages, with two named news reports, consulted on 7 August 2026; rates and rules change, so verify before deciding.
In short. 斗內 is a sound-and-sense loan of the English donate — a viewer paying money directly to support a streamer or creator. 斗內 and 抖內 are two spellings of the same word, both read dǒunèi (ㄉㄡˇ ㄋㄟˋ) in Mandarin. Creators in Taiwan collect 斗內 by roughly three routes: platform built-ins (YouTube Super Chat, Twitch subs and Bits), a local provider's payment link (ECPay, O'Pay and the like), and a third-party page paying straight into the creator's own PayPal account. Note that PayPal closed domestic collection and payment inside Taiwan on 9 May 2017, and the Taiwan rates it publishes today are one table only — 「接收跨國交易」, receiving cross-border transactions — so the PayPal route is in practice for 斗內 from an overseas audience.
What 斗內 means and where it came from: 斗內, 抖內 and donate are one word
Chinese Wiktionary lists 斗內 as a verb, explains it as 「音義兼譯自英語 donate("贊助、捐獻")」, defines it as sponsoring a streamer, and gives the pronunciation dǒunèi (ㄉㄡˇ ㄋㄟˋ). 抖內 is the other spelling; that entry lists 斗內 as a variant form and defines it 「(新詞,網絡語言) 給主播打賞,打錢」, internet slang for tipping a streamer. Both spellings are in use; write whichever comes naturally.
What is 斗內 in English? It is donate. The English Wiktionary entry for 抖內 says "Borrowed from English donate" and defines it "to donate (to an online streamer)"; the noun is donation. English-language streaming tools often call it a tip — Streamlabs' English page uses "tips", and its Traditional Chinese page renders that 「小費」.
On the origin, ETtoday Star's 19 January 2018 round-up of streamer slang is plain: 「斗內出自英文Donate(贊助),在斗內的同時,留言會被凸顯,通常實況主也會特別感謝」 — the chat message is highlighted and the streamer usually thanks you — and it adds that people who 斗內 get called 「乾爹」, sugar daddy.
How the 斗內 amount works
Two sides. For the viewer, the official pages we checked give no recommended amount; the floor is set by the tool. ECPay's official setup notes for streamer collection say 「可以設定每一筆贊助的最低金額,預設為10元。」 — minimum per tip, default NT$10. Tip size changes how it is surfaced, not who is more entitled to support you.
For the creator what matters is the amount that lands: face value, less the processing fee and its fixed component, less the platform fee and any revenue share. For PayPal collecting from abroad, its Taiwan commercial-transaction rates page (updated 28 May 2026) lists 「台灣外 (TW) 商業交易」 (transactions from outside Taiwan) at 「4.40%+ 固定費用」, the fixed fee being 10.00 TWD when received in New Taiwan dollars and 0.30 USD in US dollars. That page's definition of 「商業交易」 covers 「接受慈善機構捐款」, accepting charitable donations, so 斗內 runs on commercial-transaction rates, not friends-and-family transfers. A worked estimate for an NT$1,000 tip from abroad:
| Item | Estimate at PayPal's published rates |
|---|---|
| Viewer pays (priced in TWD) | NT$1,000 |
| 4.40% rate | NT$44 |
| Fixed fee (received in TWD) | NT$10 |
| Credited to the PayPal account | about NT$946 |
| Withdrawal: TWD balance → E.Sun TWD account | 「無需支付手續費(若不涉及貨幣轉換)」 — no fee, where no currency conversion is involved |
The real figure depends on your account's receiving currency and settings, and currency is what's most easily missed: the personal-account fees page (updated 28 May 2026) lists a USD balance withdrawn to an E.Sun USD account at 「2.50%(若不涉及貨幣轉換)」, local bank withdrawal conversion 「當地銀行提領轉換」 at 2.50%, and conversion in all other cases 「所有其他情況下的轉換」 at 3.00% — receive US dollars, convert to NT dollars, and you add a layer of conversion cost.
What PayPal can do in Taiwan now
INSIDE's report of 9 May 2017 recorded the day: PayPal 「全面終止台灣境內收付款交易功能」 — domestic collection and payment inside Taiwan ended entirely. The report cites the Act Governing Electronic Payment Institutions and notes 「台灣對外或海外地區對台灣跨境交易模式仍不受影響」 — cross-border flows remain unaffected. The statute is clearer: the Act Governing Electronic Payment Institutions (last amended 19 January 2023) provides at Article 15 that 「境外機構非依本條例申請許可設立電子支付機構,不得於我國境內經營第四條第一項業務」 — an offshore institution not licensed under this Act may not conduct Article 4(1) business within our territory — and Article 4(1) includes 「代理收付實質交易款項」, collecting and paying for real transactions as an agent.
The public pages today match that report: PayPal's Taiwan commercial-rates page carries only the 「接收跨國交易」 table, and when we read it on 7 August 2026 we saw no rate row for domestic receiving. Practically: plan PayPal 斗內 as cross-border collection.
Withdrawals have details too. PayPal's help page says personal-account holders in Taiwan can withdraw to an E.Sun Bank account, another local bank account, or a US bank account, and that E.Sun 「可能需要 3 到 7 個工作日處理提領」 — 3 to 7 business days; minimums are NT$100 to E.Sun, and NT$500 or US$50 from E.Sun onward to another local bank. If the names don't match, the accounts won't link — settle that before you start collecting. PayPal's example: an account named "Wang XiaoMing" against an E.Sun account opened as 「王小明」 — 「則無法連結這兩個帳戶」, you cannot link the two.
Platform built-ins: where to check the cut
YouTube. The official help page says 「Google 認列的超級系列收益,70% 會支付給創作者」 — 70% of the Super-series revenue Google recognises goes to the creator — with 「系統會先扣除當地銷售稅和 iOS App Store 費用後,再計算得出收益的 70%」, local sales tax and iOS App Store fees off first, and 「所有交易相關費用 (含信用卡手續費) 目前均由 YouTube 負擔」, all transaction fees, credit cards included, borne by YouTube (Super Chat and Super Stickers). Super Thanks is likewise 「70% 會分給創作者」. Taiwan appears on the Super Chat availability list, and eligibility starts with 「粉絲贊助功能的基本要求」, the basic fan-funding requirements. Viewers there pay through Google checkout, which is why a tip made on iOS has an App Store fee taken out first. Note: the official pages we found publish no Taiwan-specific cut, so check any "the Taiwan cut is X%" claim back against the official page.
Twitch. Twitch's official blog post of 24 January 2024 states the removal of "the US$100K cap on net revenue at the 70/30 revenue share level", and explains that under the Plus Program 100 points for three consecutive months qualifies for 60/40 net revenue on paid and gift subscriptions, and 300 points reaches 70/30. That post lists no per-Bit price and no payment threshold — for those two, go by what your own Twitch dashboard shows, and don't treat a third-party blog's figures as settled.
Which 斗內 platforms are out there
Here are several 斗內 tools you'll come across in Taiwan; each publishes its rates on its own pages. The table only points the way — no ranking, no price comparison. Read their pages, and check for an update date.
| Tool | How its official page describes itself | Official rates / terms page |
|---|---|---|
| ECPay 綠界科技 | Streamer collection: 「金額自由填寫,適用贊助及捐款情境」 (free amount; sponsorship and donation), pushes an animation on success, funds 「存入信託專戶」 (into a trust account) | General-seller rates |
| O'Pay 歐付寶 | Streamer collection: 「實況收入,一址搞定」 (streaming income, one address), provides 「專屬於您的收款網址」 (your own collection URL) | Rates page (no effective date printed) |
| Streamlabs | Traditional Chinese help: a tip goes 「直接透過付款處理者進入到直播者的帳戶」 (straight into the streamer's account), and 「Streamlabs 不會從您的小費抽取任何費用」 (no fee taken from your tip) | Tipping page |
| Portaly | A link-page tool; plans split into basic and premium membership | Pricing page |
| Nekolive 貓咪娛樂 | 「整合了台灣目前可使用的第三方金流廠商」 (integrates Taiwan's usable third-party payment providers), PayPal on the list | Site (platform fee stated on the home page) |
What affects the amount that lands is often the footnote under the table, not the headline figure. ECPay's general-seller rates page, when we read it, noted 「線上金流每筆費用最終結算需加收取 5% 營業稅」 — a 5% business tax added to each fee at final settlement. Business tax, receiving limit, settlement timing, withdrawal fee: dig out all four, for every provider.
Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between 斗內 and 抖內?
Only the spelling. Wiktionary's 抖內 entry lists 斗內 as a variant form; the meaning is the same.
What is 斗內 (抖內) in English?
donate (verb), donation (noun); English-language streaming tools usually call it a tip, which Chinese pages often render 「小費」.
How does the 斗內 amount work, and how much is appropriate?
The official pages generally give no recommended amount, and the floor is set by the tool — ECPay's streamer collection defaults to NT$10 per tip. On the creator side, estimate face value less fees and revenue share, not the percentage alone.
How do you turn on 斗內 features on YouTube and Twitch, and where do you check the cut?
Meet each one's eligibility conditions first: on YouTube start from 「粉絲贊助功能的基本要求」 and confirm your region is on the availability list; Twitch's revenue-share levels are in its official blog post, the per-Bit price and payment threshold on your dashboard. Trust two places only: the official help page and your dashboard.
